I have so much love for this sketch. You can tell the original pitch is “Ok, so the light goes out in a lighthouse and all these pirates end up crashing their boats on the rocks”. Then someone decided “Hey! let’s have waves crash on them!” This, during rehearsal, turned into the crew tossing buckets of water, not for a wave effect, but for their own personal amusement- to try and hit the players as directly in the face as possible. You can see it in the players’ faces. They know the major direct hits are coming. (With the exception of Forte. Forte is the only one who never breaks character. +1, Forte). Reblogging because this may be the most thorough SNL interview I’ve ever read. Bobby is amazing. I want you all to read it (and I want you LOST fans to weep over that cut sketch, which even I want to see now!)

 Also, Seth wrote a LOST sketch for the finale but it didn’t make it. I loved it. I was Hurley, Bill was Sawyer, Kristen was Kate, Jason was Jack. It was just a nerds dream sketch and expertly written. I really wish we had done it. That one will kill me forever.
